Collins Constructions Diversity Strategy strives for greater diversity and inclusion within the workplace.

We are dedicated to pursuing a diverse and inclusive workplace. As part of our diversity strategy, Collins Constructions has a target of increasing our current Indigenous workforce, by engaging with organisations such as VPG and MyPathway, as well as proudly supporting diversity in the workplace and the industry at large. Our core team comprises members of different cultures, ethnicities, and nationalities, and we are focused on ensuring equal opportunities within our company.

We acknowledge Indigenous people’s cultural values and practices in Australia and strive to collaborate with and understand the needs of individuals, their communities, and their relationship with the land.

We understand the importance of a good relationship with local Indigenous communities, and our team works hard to identify and provide opportunities wherever possible. Further, we understand that mentoring and workplace coaching contributes to successful long-term employment.

Collins Constructions acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the country throughout Australia and recognises their continuing connection to land, waters and community. We pay our respect to them; and to Elders past, present and emerging as well as the other cultures and groups who have contributed to this great country.

Reconciliation Action Plan

Respecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, culture, and heritage is at the core of modern Australia. Collins Constructions actively seeks practical ways to increase economic and social opportunities for communities in Far North Queensland and beyond.

For us, it’s more than just platitudes and a box to be ticked; it’s about executing a core element of our strategic plan.

Collins Constructions’ Reconciliation Action Plan seeks to codify these values, putting in place processes around engaging with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. A diverse workforce is a strength, encouraging meaningful Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander participation, empowering our organisation and community.

This strategy is fundamental to Collins Constructions’ executing our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), along with improving employee access for Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) target groups.

The key highlights of Collins Constructions’ Reconciliation Action Plan in action:

» We proudly sponsor an award at the Busy at Work Skill360 Awards – “Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year”

» Where possible, engage with Indigenous businesses based on standard compliance and competitive practice utilising Supply Nation.

» We provide a range of professional development opportunities for existing staff to improve retention rates.

» We offer work experience student placements each year within the company. We also ensure that each student has a culturally appropriate mentor
